Ten Years After: Lisbon (1996), Valencia (1998), Avignon (2000), Barcelona (2002), Neuchâtel (2004)

25 to 27 of October 2006, Rhodes, Greece

Since Lisbon, 1996, Geoenv conferences have been held regularly during the last 10 years: Valencia (1998), Avignon (2000), Barcelona (2002) and Neuchâtel (2004). In ten years we succeeded to transform an original good idea into a consistent project of a regular series of high-level conferences and an international association – geoENVia. Scientists from many different areas found in geoENV found an appropriate forum for sharing their experiences on the application of geostatistics to environmental problems.

We are glad to announce the next conference, geoENV 2006, which will be held in Rhodes, Greece, and we are pleased to invite you to submit a presentation for the conference. A non-exclusive list of topics to be covered includes:

  • Groundwater pollution and hydrogeology
  • Soil science, site remediation, industrial sites
  • Air monitoring
  • Spatio-temporal statistics
  • Climatology
  • Ecology, natural resources
  • Forestry, agriculture
  • Epidemiology, ecotoxicology
  • Biometry
  • Remote Sensing
  • Theoretical developments

Publications

Key factors that contributed most to the success of the geoENV conferences are the careful selection of the presentations and the peer review of the papers submitted for publication in a conference volume. For this task, geoENV relied on a Scientific Committee that includes the most prestigious geostatisticians from all over the world. In that way, the geoENV conferences gave rise to a series of highly regarded volumes of selected papers published in the proceedings geoENV I to geoENV V.

Special Issues

Apart from publishing the conference proceedings with a renowned publisher, geoENV 2006 wants to go a step further regarding publications policy. The best manuscripts shall be selected and published in special issues of international peer-reviewed journals focusing on geostatistics and environmental applications.
